The Athens Destination Specialist programme won an Outstanding Industry Contribution award at the e-tourism conference Enter2015, which was held in Lugano, Switzerland on February 3-6, 2015.
This award is given to enterprises that make a significant contribution to the growth and success of technology adoption, integration, or use in the tourism industry. Athens Destination Specialist is an online training and certification programme for travel industry professionals, conference organisers and bloggers. The six interactive course modules are designed to enrich users’ knowledge of Athens, so they can effectively sell and promote the city to their clients and audiences.
Designed and implemented by Nelios, on behalf of the Athens Development and Destination Management Agency, the Athens Destination Specialist programme was first presented at TBEX Athens, the largest conference for travel bloggers worldwide, in October 2014. Since then, many travel and tourism professionals have registered and been certified as Athens destination specialists.
Dimitris Serifis, CEO of Nelios, said: “This award will motivate us to continue to offer our services and expertise to promote and enhance tourism in Greece. We see this not as an obligation, but as our duty. I would like to thank Daily Secret and UX Lab for helping us to deliver quality content and a great user experience."
Organised by the International Federation for Information Technology and Travel and Tourism, Enter2015 brought together leaders from industry, academia, and government to exchange, share, and challenge the application of information and communication technologies to travel and tourism.
